Is art meant solely for our enjoyment, or does it serve a fundamental social function? Can art convey truths about the world, and if so, which ones? Come and discuss together with Kamilla Taraeva, Uppsala University. No prior knowledge or preparation is needed. In English.

This Thursday evening, we will be joined by Kamilla Taraeva, PhD student in aesthetics at Uppsala University. Her research explores issues at the intersection of art and knowledge, with a particular focus on narrative works. Is art important and what standards should we set for public art?

The conversation will be led by one of Nationalmuseum’s art educators together with Kamilla Taraeva. Taking works from the museum’s collections as our starting point, we will use questionsand exercises that open up for reflection and discussion.

Come as you are. No prior knowledge or preparation is needed. Places are limited, so please book in advance to secure your place.

Carl Larsson, Midwinter Sacrifice.
